RPD International are an innovation consultancy founded by young British Entrepreneur Josh Valman. It focusses on product development and the innovation process for large blue chip companies, where it delivers an end to end innovation process that allows the development of a product from idea or concept through prototyping, product validation, trial production run, market testing and full production in one seamless process and with one contract. It enables a large corporate to innovate more quickly and efficiently.
RPD requested support from Innovateer to help with a client that wanted to understand how introducing new technologies and innovation could help it modernise its LPG supply business. Innovateer was engaged to represent RPD given its background in engineering, operations and with large corporates in the energy sector. The objective was to establish how the client’s business could be improved operationally, to reduce costs and improve efficiency around LPG supply across domestic and commercial customers. There was a focus on the benefits of gathering tank stock data and use of standardised telemetry systems to avoid run-out problems or over-supply.
Innovateer led the programme of data gathering and interpretation across the globe through a series of structured meetings with the business leaders at international offices in Europe and South America; these locations were identified as the most representative that would represent the whole business very well. Armed with the data it was possible to identify the key themes and areas for improvement that could be targeted with suitable investment.
The telemetry equipment, interface with telecommunications networks and the formation of a standard approach to equipment procurement across the business was analysed and costs developed so that the client could understand the impact of an international roll-out. It revealed dramatic cost reduction benefits (up to 52%) and the proposal to the client included the activities and plans to achieve this but also how to introduce the innovation and change successfully so the result could be sustained and lead to a modernised business.
